This card a portrait of the Russian Tsar (Czar) Nicholas II Alexandrovich. He was born in 1868, may 18th as the eldest son of the Russian Crown Prince Alexander (the later Tsar) and his wife, Princess Dagmar of Danmark in Tsarskoje Selo (today Puschkin). He got a private education. His political education he got of the politician Konstantin Pobedonostew. In the time from 1885 to 1890 he studied law at the Petersburg University. In the same time he got a military education at the academy of the general staff. In 1894, november 1st the Crown Prince became -as Nicholas II- the Tsar of Russia. In 1894, november 26th he married Princess Alexandra of Hesse-Darmstadt. The couple got five children, at least the only son, the heir to the throne Aleksej. Russia joined the WW1 in 1914. In 1915, september Tsar Nicholas II took over the top command over the whole army. In 1917 began -all over the country- revolts of the workers and also of the soldiers. In 1917, march 21st Tsar Alexandrovich was arrested. At first he was interned with his family in Tsarskoje Selo, later he had to go to Siberia into banishment.
