Tsarina Alexandra and Tsarevich Aleksej of Russia
Beautiful reprint of the 1910th photograph in best shape, both ways as imaged.
This card shows Tsarina Alexandra Fedorovna (called "Alicky" or "Alix") and Tsarevich Aleksej Nikolajevich of Russia, descended of the Romanov House, as a child. Tsarina Alexandra, born as Princess of Hesse and of Rhine was born in 1872, june 6th in Darmstadt (Germany). In 1894, november 26th she married in the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg (Russia) the Russian Tsar, Nicholas II Alexandrovich (1868-1918). He began his reign only a few days before this marriage, after the death of his father. In the beginning the couple got four daughters. Then, in 1904 august 12th, the -since a long time expected- son was born, the Tsarevich Aleksej Nikolajevich. The Tsarina didn't like publicity and so she had no much contact to the population. As a result of the Bolshevist revolution she was murdered -together with her whole family- in 1918, july 16th in Ekaterinburg (Russia).
